🟠 Start With This: The Soulful Welcome Sequence

The First Emails That Say “I See You” (Without Feeling Salesy)

Hey Lena,

Let’s talk about first impressions.

You know that feeling when you walk into a room and someone makes you feel instantly… at home?

That’s what a good welcome sequence should feel like.
Warm.
Effortless.
Inviting.
Like a handwritten note with a cup of tea tucked inside.

But you know what most welcome sequences sound like?

“Download your freebie here.”
“Our regular newsletter is sent on Tuesdays.”
“Here are 5 blog posts and an upsell.”

Blech.

Today, we’re going to change that.
Because if you only automate one thing in your business?

Make it your welcome sequence — but do it with soul. 💛

Why the Welcome Sequence Matters So Much

Here’s a wild stat:
💡 Most of your newest subscribers are your most engaged.

They’re:

·       Curious

·       Open

·       Actively looking for answers

·       Not yet jaded by inbox overload

This is the moment to show them who you are.

Not just what you sell.

A soulful welcome sequence does three powerful things:

1.     Builds trust

2.     Shares your story

3.     Sets expectations (without being cold or corporate)

If you do it right, it can turn strangers into super-fans — on autopilot.

🧠 What a “Soulful” Welcome Sequence Isn’t

Let’s get this straight:

A soulful welcome sequence is not:

·       A sales funnel with a coat of pastel paint

·       A 7-email series that escalates pressure

·       A series of links with no heart behind them

It’s not about “warming up leads.”
It’s about opening a conversation.

One that feels like a voice memo, not a webinar.

🧡 The Soulful Welcome Framework (3 Emails)

Here’s my plug-and-play flow.
Three emails. Short. Sweet. Deep.
You can stretch it to 5 later, but this is enough to start with.

📧 Email 1: The Welcome

Subject Line: "I’m so glad you’re here"

What it does:

·       Welcomes them warmly

·       Shares a tiny origin story

·       Invites a reply (optional, but magic if they do)

Sample flow:

·       “Hey [Name] — I’m Lena. I’m so glad you’re here.”

·       “This newsletter isn’t about inbox noise. It’s about clarity, connection, and soulful strategy.”

·       “I started my business because…” [insert 2–3 lines of story]

·       “I’d love to know: What kind of emails do you want to get?”

·       “Reply and let me know — I read every one.”

🪄 Pro tip: Keep this one short, emotional, and warm. Let your tone do the heavy lifting.

📧 Email 2: The Why

Subject Line: "Why I send these emails (and what’s next)"

What it does:

·       Explains your mission

·       Sets clear expectations

·       Reinforces value

Sample flow:

·       “I believe in doing email differently.”

·       “No bro funnels. No pressure-y promos. Just honest, helpful content that makes you feel less alone in this journey.”

·       “Here’s what you can expect…”

o      1 email/week

o      Tips that actually help

o      The occasional offer that aligns with what you’ve told me you want

·       “Sound good? Cool. You’re in the right place.”

🪄 Pro tip: If you have a community, freebie library, or signature framework — this is the email to link it.

📧 Email 3: The Offer

Subject Line: "A little something for where you are now"

What it does:

·       Gently introduces your paid or free offer

·       Links to something useful and well-aligned

·       Shows you’re here to help — not just to sell

Sample flow:

·       “A lot of people who join this list are working on [problem you solve].”

·       “If that’s you, you might like [offer/resource].”

·       “It’s free / low-cost / available now, and I made it with a lot of love.”

·       “Either way, I’m glad you’re here.”

🪄 Pro tip: Add a P.S. that says: “Have questions? Just reply. I actually answer.”

🖋️ The Soulful Sequence, In Action

Let’s make this real.

Here’s a snippet from an actual welcome email I helped a client write:

“I’m not going to pretend like I’m not nervous writing this.

You signed up. That means something.

So here’s what I want to promise you:
I’ll never email you because I have to.
I’ll email you because I want to help.

That’s all. Talk soon.”

Short. Soulful. Sticky.

That’s the vibe.

️ Your Action Step: Write Email #1 Today

Open your ESP (ConvertKit, Flodesk, etc.).
Create a new email.
Write just the welcome one.

Use this prompt:

“Hey [Name], I’m [your name], and I’m so glad you’re here. When I started this, I…”

Then finish with:

“If you feel like it, reply and tell me one thing you’re working on right now.”

Send it.
Let it live.
Let it love people — automatically.

💡 Big Lesson:

A welcome sequence isn’t just a “best practice.”
It’s an invitation.
To know you.
To trust you.
To build a connection that lasts beyond a launch.

🪄 Proverb of the Day:

📜 “Greet with warmth. Guide with clarity.”
